The project emphasizes non-commercial, ecological, and local cultural approaches to (art) education in Southern African contexts to put non-western and alternative approaches into play alongside critical artistic pedagogy from Scandinavia. In doing so, the project seeks to collapse geography and highlight shared values that encourage experimental and critical approaches to art as a pedagogical and social infrastructure across borders. In this eighth episode of the ongoing program S for Sound, S for Solidarity (SfS, SfS) - the current Kinkurimba group unfolds their practices through a new sonic episode set across Congo, Zambia, Brazil, and Denmark. By combining monologues, speeches, and poetry readings mixed with fragments of the discursive event that launched the Kinkurimba project, the new episode highlights both current trajectories and the origins of the collective. Set to a context specific soundtrack including Zamrock and Kuyabile with lo-fi recordings of the natural settings where the group is located, the episode seeks to draw a rich portrait that serves as a sonic introduction to Kinkurimba. Walking is a site-specific guided listening walk through Aalborg, where we collectively listen to a double feature of the two new episodes of S for Sound, S for Solidarity - episode 6&nbsp;with Hannibal Andersen&nbsp;and episode 7 with Verdensrommet as they are premiering on Radio alHara.&nbsp;With a starting point in Andersen’s public art project “Everything Must Go (Alt Skal Væk)” that took place in Aalborg in 2022, and following up on his ongoing practice incorporating critical gamification in New York, to creating experimental playground environments in Copenhagen, the sixth episode traces intriguing and lesser known trajectories across Andersen’s recent practice. A red thread running through the conversation with Andersen in Episode 6 is art’s role in rethinking ownership and property relations, especially in relation to affordable housing and reconsidering the economics and accessibility of the built environment across local and international contexts. In the seventh episode members from the experimental, non-profit art organization Verdensrommet unpack their positions within the institution and network for non-EU immigrant artists and creatives in Norway. In connecting a conversation between the peripheral contexts of Trondheim, Norway and Aalborg, Denmark artists and art workers Sara Shooshtari (IR) and Tara Fraser (AU) discuss with Scott William Raby similarities, differences, and challenges they recognize as artists and immigrants located in Norway and Denmark. In the fifth episode of S for Sound, S for Solidarity&nbsp;the Vienna based Artist Project Group (APG) sonically unfold various social, economic, and political possibilities for artists to engage institutions differently via their experimental practice as an “artist consultancy agency”. Through interviews, discussion, testimonies, and sound bites from artists who have operated within their consultancy infrastructure, APG suggests “artists have the answers”. APG sets this broader narrative to a soundtrack of Aalborg’s local music scene as a contextual connection to their previous artist consultancy work in Northern Denmark. This includes their 2019 project Aalborg Anti-Artwashing Agreement (AAAA), which later helped motivate the establishment of the Aalborg Artists Association (AAAA). gathering featuring Aalborg Artist’s Association (AAAA). The Collective Voice seeks to provide an experimental format for the collective expression of creative and critical voices in a welcoming environment. The gathering draws inspiration from speeches, songs, discussions, chants, people’s mics and other forms of sound utilized to express solidarity and unity across public protests, strikes, and other activistic and organizational contexts. The Collective Voice will provide a platform for understanding the local situation in Aalborg, in which artists often experience economic, social, and institutional challenges, as well as function to contextualize this in relation to wider artistic struggles and broader global frameworks. The Collective Voice takes place at a time when artistic cultural policy in Northern Jutland is tenuous; funding is being cut, Kunsthal Nord has closed, Aalborg University is slated to remove entire cultural departments, and municipal studios are in jeopardy. Bodies of Waves uses sound as an artistic tool to delve into the complex interplay between language devices in mass media and the profound issues of migration, colonialism, and climate change. Bodies of Waves appropriates, collages, and examines audio from media outlets’ use of water as a linguistic metaphor to frame refugees and migrants. Terms such as “flood” and “wave” not only evoke images of overwhelming natural forces, but also subtly perpetuate colonial attitudes, reducing individuals to faceless masses and increasing notions of “otherness”. Bodies of Waves also confronts a modern form of colonialism: climate change. &nbsp; This is the third episode of the ongoing program S for Sound, S for Solidarity (SfS, SfS) - an audio infrastructure for artists co-founded by f.eks. and artist Yazan Khalili in 2023. It seeks, if only for a moment, to capture an art scene and to present visitors with some of the many elements that constitute the artworld.&nbsp;Under is shaped by a curatorial strategy that places strong emphasis on co-authorship, collaboration, and community. Under is a fragment of a larger scene. Within Simian’s space, it manifests as a gathering of gestures, objects, and social encounters - together unfolding a story of a transgressive, diverse, and ever-changing art scene. project and audio essay by artist and composer Morten Poulsen. The project takes its point of departure in the Danish national government’s controversial decision to build a highway across Egholm - a rural island located in the Limfjord waters near the city of Aalborg, Denmark. Egholm is often promoted by the local municipality as a calm and silent refuge for humans, and as a unique natural setting just outside the post-industrial urban periphery. The island is home to much animal and plant life that will be greatly impacted by the mega-project Egholmlinjen. Therefore, to understand the place from other perspectives, in&nbsp;A Different Set of Ears: The Egholm Alliance, Morten Poulsen listens together with the island - its inhabitants and local citizens who organize against the highway, but also the fauna and flora - including a very special willow tree. Weaving together a post-human sensation of entanglement, the audio essay proposes a change in our listening position, that can afford us with means to create new narratives about the relation between ourselves and the environments we are a part of.This&nbsp;is the second episode of the ongoing program&nbsp;S for Sound, S for Solidarity (SfS, SfS) - an audio infrastructure for artists co-founded by f.eks. and artist Yazan Khalili in 2023.&nbsp;SfS, SfS seeks to utilize sonic and radio programming to highlight artistic, socio-political, and cultural conversations in relation to localized power dynamics and broader geo-political contexts, launching public sonic artworks, listening sessions, and radio broadcasts that connect Northern Denmark to wider global contexts in collaboration with partner&nbsp;Radio alHara راديو الحارة. With sound, listening, and participatory-based processes, he explores socio-political structures, often focusing on gender, power relations, climate change, and the ways in which they intersect. His artistic work has been shown across different art institutions such as Kunsthal Aarhus, Kunsten Museum of Modern Art Aalborg, Kunstbygningen i Vrå, SixtyEight Art Institute, c4 projects, and Skjold Contemporary in Copenhagen (DK). His artistic research has been presented at the PARSE Biennial for Artistic Research, Gothenburg (SE), and Seismograf (DK). As a musician, Morten Poulsen has toured internationally with the underwater concert AquaSonic. He was educated at the International Center for Knowledge in the Arts in Copenhagen (2022) and graduated with an MA in Music Creation from the Rhythmic Music Conservatory in Copenhagen in 2021.
